there's no place like home

After being away for a week, it was such a treat to come back home and just hang out in the yard. Our bean teepee has filled out more, despite the rust and other plant "predators". I think the tendrils at the top just gave up and started heading back toward the ground. The gourds are growing and there are more of them, including a speckled swan in the garden.

Lucia shows off the same gourd we'd shown back in August.

Having spent the afternoon as birds of prey attacking leaves in the yard, crawling through the chicken coop to capture chickens, and hiking through our neighbor's farm to the airline trail, the kids desperately needed a bath. I gave Lucia the fluffy pink bathrobe I'd found for her earlier this summer, and she loved it. How on earth did I end up with a girly girl???
