Hot Chicks

Literally -- the temp in their box is almost 100 degrees. How cute they are, and they sound even cuter when they're discontented. So we're trying to keep them warm, and they have plenty of food and water. Which they love to stand in...

This is one of the Gold Laced Wyandottes. To see what they'll look like as an adult, go to the Wyandotte page on feathersite and scroll down til you see some pics labelled Gold Laced Wyandotte.
Next up is the Speckled Sussex. All the breeds we chose are supposed to be relatively friendly, but decent egg layers too. To see this chiquita as a lady, head back to feathersite

This adorable little cottonball is a Black Silkie, the lapdog of the chicken world. Very funky looking, and they have a great disposition. These are supposedly difficult to tell apart this young, so this lil guy could be a rooster or a hen. Check out our lil chick all grown up at the Silkie page on... feathersite.
All snuggled in for the night under the infared heating lamp (which casts bizarre shadows through the grate we have on top to protect them from Mushka, and to keep the big ole rhode island red in. She's for our neighbor, and is older than the rest.
